Discord users of Sprinto Bot
Data Collection and purpose
Data I collect when you use Sprinto:
- Your Discord user ID, username, display name and server nickname: to record your sprints and settings, and to show your name in Sprinto’s replies. Sprinto stores one server nickname for you: the one from the server where it last saw you.
- Your timezone, if you set one with
/timezone: for sprints that start or end at a clock time, such asat 14:30./timezone noneclears it. - Your personal settings: your last word count (used when you join with
same), how many chimes may mention you (Max chimes), and which quotes and phrases you have been shown recently, so that they don’t repeat. - Sprint history: used for scoreboards and for overall statistics.
- For each sprint: the server and channel, the start time, the length, how the sprint ended, the sprint command as typed, the channel’s and server’s default sprint settings at the time, the round number and totals for a chain sprint, and the votes in any vote to cancel it.
- For each person in the sprint: their word count, starting count and rank, when they joined and in what order, whether they reported a count, their last update, and how they gave each count.
- If a late word count changes a posted scoreboard, the earlier version of the results is kept too.
- Scoreboards: for each scoreboard Sprinto posts, its message ID, its emoji theme, the quote shown on it, and which writers on it were supporters. Used to update or clean up a posted scoreboard later.
- Ping lists: for each channel, who is signed up to be pinged at the start of sprints, for how many sprints or always, and when each person was last pinged. Sprinto checks with Discord whether the people on a ping list are still in the server, and takes anyone who has left off the list.
- Tasks (closed beta, in some servers): when you join a sprint with a task, such as
/join todo washing up, Sprinto stores the task label (up to 20 characters, shown on the scoreboard), any private detail you add after a colon (never posted), folder names, goals and progress, and a record of each task in each sprint. - Feedback:
/feedbackposts your message anonymously on the support server. Sprinto stores your message, who sent it, the server and channel it was sent from, the message IDs, and my reply, so that my reply can reach you. - Moderation records: when a Sprint Admin uses Clean up these results to take a task label off a posted scoreboard, Sprinto stores the old label, the new label, whose task it was, and who removed it. Only I can see these records. When a Sprint Admin takes a quote off a scoreboard, Sprinto stores who removed it, the server, and the quote. When someone reports a quote, Sprinto stores who reported it, the server, channel and message, the reason they picked, and any note they added.
- Servers: once a day, for each server Sprinto is in, the server ID and name, Discord’s approximate member count, the number of channels, the server owner’s user ID, and when Sprinto joined the server. Used to identify which servers Sprinto is in.
- Channel IDs: to store each channel’s settings, sprints and ping list, and to record the channel each command was used in. Channel names are stored only in the old Sprinto bot’s logs.
- Messages you send to Sprinto: see Messages to Sprinto.
- Pets and companion seats: see Pets and companion seats.
- The old Sprinto bot’s logs: see Logs from the old Sprinto bot.
When an error happens, and when Sprinto joins or leaves a server, I log the event with related information, such as the username, user ID, server ID and name, channel ID and message ID, to allow for debugging and error resolution. Sprint status information such as word counts, participants and sprint options is saved to allow sprints to continue across restarts of the Service. User, channel and server settings are stored. Logs may be periodically rotated and deleted.
Sprinto also stores the user IDs of some people who have not used it:
- The owner of each server Sprinto is in, in the daily record of that server.
- Anyone whose pings a Sprint MC turns on or off in a channel with
@Sprinto pinguseror/admin-forget-user.
When voice is switched on for a server, Sprinto joins the voice channel deafened, and never receives audio.
User and usage details are never shared with third-parties. If you support Sprinto on Patreon or Ko-fi, the data listed under Patreon and Ko-Fi supporters is stored as well. This information is used to provide the core functionality of the bot, including tracking sprint progress, managing sprint settings, providing rewards, and generating sprint statistics.
Messages to Sprinto
Sprinto stores a record of every message addressed to it, and of every Sprinto slash command you use. A message is addressed to Sprinto if it:
- mentions Sprinto,
- starts with
!,/or_(a message in italics, such as_this_, doesn’t count), or - is a direct message to Sprinto.
For each one, Sprinto stores the time, the server and channel, your user ID, the command, everything you typed after the command word, and Sprinto’s reply. For example, for @Sprinto words 1200 final, Sprinto stores the command words, the text 1200 final, and its reply. I use these records to fix problems and to monitor how Sprinto is used.
Pets and companion seats
If you have pets, Sprinto stores your collection: each pet’s name, emoji and art style, which pet is your companion, whether a pet is hibernating, when you adopted it, and its lifetime sprints, words and best sprint. For each sprint a pet joins, Sprinto records the pet’s word count, and the name and look the pet had in that sprint. Used for the /pets panel and to show your companion on scoreboards.
Sprinto also keeps a log of changes to your pets: when a pet is added, renamed, given a new look, made your companion or taken out of your seat, or removed, with the pet’s name and emoji after the change. The log is kept even if the pet is later deleted. When you rename a pet by picking from suggested names, the log also records the suggestions you didn’t pick.
If you have a companion seat, Sprinto stores when your seat ends and the reason you have it. The reason is support, a free trial, a gift, a reward, thanks, or a problem with your Patreon link (I add the seat by hand until the link is fixed). For a reward, Sprinto also stores a note I wrote about it.
Logs from the old Sprinto bot
The old Sprinto bot’s logs from November 2018 onward were imported into Sprinto’s database. They include:
- Finished sprints.
- Sprinters: user ID, username and nickname.
- Commands: server name, channel name, username, the command text, the bot’s reply, and message IDs. Entries from before 30 August 2022 can include parts of ordinary chat messages.
- Daily server lists: server name, the server owner’s name and user ID, member counts, the server icon, and the name of a voice channel.
Patreon and Ko-Fi supporters
If you choose to support the development of Sprinto Bot through Patreon or Ko-Fi, your support is linked to your Discord account. This is used to provide you with the appropriate rewards.
- Patreon: Sprinto uses the Discord account connected to your Patreon account.
- Ko-fi: Sprinto matches the email address on your Ko-fi payment to a supporter who is already linked, for example through Patreon.
I have also linked Ko-fi supporters by matching their Discord names against the old Sprinto bot’s command logs.
Sprinto stores this information about supporters:
- Your name: your full name on Patreon, or the name on your Ko-fi payment.
- Your email address, stored as a keyed hash: used to match your Patreon and Ko-fi records to each other. The address itself is also stored if you are an active or monthly supporter, or if your support isn’t linked to a Discord account. The address is also part of every Ko-fi payment notice that Sprinto stores.
- Patreon membership: your Patreon user ID, the Discord account connected to your Patreon account, your tier, your patron status, your lifetime amount and each change to it, the date and status of your last charge, the date your pledge started, whether you had a free trial and its dates (kept after the trial ends), and each notice Patreon sends about your membership, stored in full.
- Ko-fi payments: the amount, currency, date and type (one-off or monthly) of each payment, and Ko-fi’s notice about each payment, as Ko-fi sent it. The notice includes your email address, your name, and any message you wrote.
- Support level: a number worked out from your total support. Sprinto shows it to you only in its reply to
/redeem. /redeemcodes: who created each code, who redeemed it, and when.
This information is stored securely and is not shared with third-parties.
Payment processing is handled by Patreon and Ko-Fi. The Service (Sprinto Bot) never sees or stores your payment card details. It does store the payment amounts, dates and notices listed above.
Please see the Patreon and Ko-Fi privacy policies for more information on how they handle your data.
